Hip Pain
Description
The hip is a much more stable joint than the shoulder and
therefore less susceptible to trauma and soft tissue injury.
However, as a weight–bearing joint, it is more prone
towards mechanical stress and degenerative changes.

Causes
Hip pain may be caused by muscle imbalance around the joint or referred pain from another area in the body. Common causes of hip pain include:
- Leg length inequality
- Past trauma
- Sciatic nerve inflammation
- Muscle imbalances
- Gait disturbances
- Referred pain from low back muscles
- Osseous misalignment
- Visceral referred pain (bowel, reproductive organs, etc.)
- Referred pain from the knee
- Referred pain from the ankle
- Lumbar vertebrae misalignment
- Trigger points / muscle contractions
- Inguinal hernia
- Cesarean scar
- Trochanteric bursitis
- Foot subluxations / foot dysfunction
- Post partum pubic bone misalignment
- Arthrosis
- Pelvic asymmetry (unlevel)
Chiropractic / Applied Kinesiology Approach to Hip Pain
Many patients describe “hip pain” when the real issue is coming from the sacroiliac joint, low back, or surrounding musculature. Accurately identifying the true source of pain is crucial for effective care. Because hip discomfort
can stem from a variety of structures, a precise evaluation is essential before
beginning treatment.
Chiropractic care—especially when combined with Applied Kinesiology—offers a comprehensive approach that often leads to long-lasting relief.
